Buckingham Students Receive ROTC Scholarships
Tyler Moree, who has been with the JROTC program for two years, was selected to receive his scholarship at his choice of three universities: Virginia Tech, Texas A&M University, and the University of Kansas. Tyler chose Virginia Tech and will be attending there in the fall of 2020.

Ian Martin, who has been with the JROTC program for four years, was selected to receive his scholarship at his choice of two universities: the University of North Dakota and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Ian chose Embry Riddle and will also be attending there in the fall of 2020.

The scholarships both Tyler and Ian were awarded cover the full cost of tuition no matter if they are considered in-state ($11,420 for Tyler) or out of state ($34,392 for Ian) residents, a yearly stipend of over $1,000 for books and materials, and $420 a month for living expenses.

Both Tyler and Ian competed against more than 25,000 other high school seniors for the National Scholarship. This scholarship process is very competitive and lengthy as only 4,000 high school students were awarded either a 4-year, 3-year, or 2-year scholarship. The JROTC department is very proud of their accomplishments and wishes them good luck on their journey on becoming a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
